E&O Loss Control Webinar

23 jan

This year's E&O Session will take place on January 23, 2020 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

The webinar is free for any IBANB member that has their E&O policy with IBANB (IBANB E&O policy holders). The fee to attend if you do not have your E&O policy with IBANB is $75.00.

Presenters will be:

  • Andrew Moss, Foster & Company
  • Catherine McLatchie, Foster & Company

Catherine and Andrew intend to teach the audience some important case-law dealing with insurance brokers’ liability for errors and omissions.  The cases will be broken down into the following categories:

  1. Broker fails to purchase a policy for the insured;
  2. Broker fails to purchase proper coverage (adequate limits, accurate description of property, etc.);
  3. Broker fails to explain policy terms to insured (exclusions, gaps in coverage);
  4. Broker fails to modify coverage; and
  5. Broker fails to renew policy.

The discussion of the case-law will focus on the causes of the brokers’ errors/omissions, their duty of care, and how they can protect themselves from liability.

For the third hour, an experienced broker will discuss best practices for brokers/brokerage firms.  This will be Stephen Halsall of All Coverage Insurance.
